Xiaomi Mi Air 13.3 Review

Xiaomi Mi Air 13.3 is one of the most popular laptops of this brand. Mi Air has a 13.3 inch screen and it is smaller than a 15 inch notebook but still bigger than a 11 inch system. The resolution of 1366×768 pixels was expected on this screen size and it is the same that you get on all 11 to 15 inch laptops these days. This resolution is available in 14 and 15 inch products too. Screens from Xiaomi are always bright and clear with good off-axis viewing and the screen here too is no exception. The screen is matte which is good for a business notebook and there aren’t a lot of glares when you read the screen. Matte screens are a bit rare in consumer laptops these days.

Just like a lot of Mi Airs, the Xiaomi Mi Air 13.3 has plenty of configuration options. You can convert one of the USB ports in to USB 3.0 port and there are Gobi antennas and WiMax 4G available too. The options for CPU range from Core i3 to Core i7 and Xiaomi hasn’t said anything about the price of these systems. My test unit of Xiaomi Mi Air 13.3 had a Core i5 processor and the speed was really impressive. It is certainly not as fast as the quad core chip found on 15 inch Apple MacBook Pro but the Mi Air was still pretty good in my benchmark tests. It was ahead of the pre-Sandy Bridge notebooks and even the high end desktop replacement laptops. The mileage will vary in the latest games so you will need to dial back the resolution and also the detail down the settings. I am not expecting any gamers to buy this system since it is a business laptop.

Xiaomi laptops always boast of excellent battery life on Mi Air products and Intel has been making a lot of claims about power efficiency of the platform of second generation Core-i series. The expectations of battery are indeed very owing to the components used inside. In my tests of video playback, this laptop lasted for a little more than six and half hours which is great for any laptop particularly the ones that don’t demand any real compromise in performance. The MacBook Pro 15 inch version lasted 25 minutes longer the Xiaomi Mi Air 13.3 too performed similarly in terms of battery. The manufacturer is offering a one year warranty with this product.

Xiaomi Mi Air 13.3 is a business laptop with Core i5 processor. The battery life too is really good and it is a good choice for traveling businessmen.
